For one healthtech SME applying on its own — no consortium. €300,000 to €500,000, covering up to half your project costs, with a deadline of 16 September 2026. We check your eligibility against the call's own conditions and come back in writing within 2 working days, including an honest "not yet" where that is the answer.

This form is in English only, because the application itself is submitted in English. We work entirely in writing: no calls unless you ask for one. Start with the eligibility questions — if the route does not fit, we will tell you there and you can stop.

First: does the route fit?

This call has hard conditions that end an application regardless of how good the science is. Four of them are about your last funding round rather than your technology. These questions check them, and take about two minutes.

The call document excludes convertible notes and SAFEs by name. Only a priced round with a set valuation counts, so this question decides more than any other one here.

At least €2,000,000 in total investment, with at least one new investor contributing. If several investors participated, give the round total rather than the largest cheque.

Month and year is enough. The round must have closed between 24 June 2023 and 16 September 2026.

Meaning a qualified, privately managed, profit-oriented professional investor deploying from an LP-financed fund. If you are not sure whether your lead investor qualifies, say so and we will check — this is a question we can answer from public sources.

The official categories are Biotech, MedTech, Digital Health & AI, and Biomarker/Diagnostics. Note that AI is not judged separately: it sits inside Digital Health & AI, at the highest maturity threshold in the call.

Measured at the start of the project. The thresholds are 5 for Biotech (safety/toxicity study stage), 6 for MedTech (initial clinical proof of concept), 7 for Digital (market validation) and 7 for Biomarker/Diagnostics. A rough estimate is fine — we verify it against the EIT Health framework.

Permanent employees on payroll, contracted for at least 50% of their working time. Consultants and freelancers do not count. The CEO requirement is separate from the four and is checked on its own.

From your own resources, private funding, or other grants. Careful with other EU grants: EU double-funding rules apply, and this grant cannot be combined with other EIT or KIC funding at all.

EIT Health, EIT Digital, EIT Manufacturing, EIT Urban Mobility and so on. If you are unsure, name the programme and we will check.

Think consumer wellness apps, fitness trackers or supplements. A clinical tool used by or under supervision of healthcare professionals is not a lifestyle product — when in doubt, answer "not sure" and we will assess it.

The condition most people miss

Every company that wins this call signs a Grant-to-Options-to-Equity Agreement before any money is released. EIT Health receives options over equity in your company — not the project — capped at the grant awarded. They convert at your next financing round of €4 million or more at a 20% discount, or at the latest on the maturity date: the contract template says 15 January 2029, the FAQ says 2030. A buy-out before conversion is possible for €2 million. If you have recently signed convertible instruments, EIT Health may adopt those same terms. Where a holding structure applies, the parent signs.

There is no wrong answer here, and "we need to discuss it" is the most common one.

We put this question in the intake rather than in a footnote because it is the one condition that can make an otherwise perfect fit the wrong deal. Answering "we need to discuss it" does not count against you — it is the honest answer for most cap tables, and it is a conversation worth having before you write anything.

Your company

EU member states, countries associated to Horizon Europe, and certain low- and middle-income countries are eligible. The UK and Switzerland both qualify. If you are unsure about yours, say so.

This matters twice over: SME status is assessed at holding level, and where a holding structure applies it is the parent company that signs the options agreement.

Including part-time staff. We are checking SME status, which allows up to 249 employees.

Fund names are enough. This lets us check the professional-investor condition before you spend time on the application.

The project

A working title is fine.

Two or three sentences in your own words. The application asks for this in a tightly limited word count; we will do that compression.

Projects start on a fixed date of 1 January 2027 and run for at most 12 months. What makes that the right window for you?

Total project costs, not just the part you are asking EIT Health to fund. You can request between €300,000 and €500,000, and that must be at most half the total.

For example CE marking status, FDA pathway, clinical trial phase, or notified body engagement.

Studies, pilots, paying customers, published results. Assessors weigh evidence far more heavily than ambition.

Named competitors and a clear payer are more useful than market-size statistics.

The call carries a hard KPI of 150,000 citizens or patients benefiting within three years after funding ends. It does not apply to the biotech track. A reasoned estimate is fine — we would rather have a defensible number than a large one.

The call also carries a KPI of €500,000 in follow-on investment, and the evaluation weighs strategic fit and financial sustainability at 40% remotely and 45% at the pitch. This is not a purely technical assessment.

Anything else

For example a funding round in progress, a regulatory submission, or a customer commitment.

We reply in writing within 2 working days. Your answers are used only to assess this application and are never shared with third parties.

Applications are submitted on the EIT Health application platform by your company. We prepare the full application and hand it over for you to place and submit, with a final check before you press send. The deadline is 16 September 2026 at 16:00 CEST and is hard — late submissions are not considered.

If the route fits and you decide to proceed, an application in this band is €8,950 — fixed, agreed before we start, with no success fee and no percentage of your grant. The Match Report itself is free and carries no obligation.
